DESCRIPTION: APW - E. Howard Watch Co, Boston, made by Waltham, 23J, 16S, gold-filled OF original Howard case with initialed shield to rear, cuvette with signature ring and 1909 Christmas presentation, white enamel DS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel, striped pattern nickel damascene, ornate winding wheel damascene, s#1005032. This 23 jewel bridge model was Waltham's top grade product made for Howard.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with few typical small fine to micro-fine scratches, winding wheels with some small bits of oxide, balance jewel setting with blued replacement screws; virtually flawless dial with only some faint edge rub under bezel; excellent hour and seconds-hand, fine minute hand with finish loss and oxide; case shows ample wear, scattered dings to rear, reduced engine turning detail with ring of full loss to shoulder, strips of wear to brass to bezel, rear perimeter, portions of wear to brass to band and pendant, opened case cuvette falls closed freely with gravity; bow pivots freely, replacement crown shows very little wear and is a bit too large to seat properly within pendant recess; good glass crystal.
